A chic beach stay, lush gardens and the spoils of the circus on Florida's Gulf Coast

The cool breeze dances about the swaying palm trees as if in celebration of the opening of Zota Beach Resort on Florida's Longboat Key. "It's been years since we had a new hotel open on the island," says general manager Roy Padgett.
With 187 rooms and suites, the modern resort adds a South Beach vibe to the laid-back elegance of Longboat Key, a barrier island off the coast of the nearby cities of Sarasota and Bradenton.
The sleek contemporary design, a vision brought forth by Leo A. Daly Design, draws inspiration from the natural island surroundings. Azure blues and deep-sea tones are melded with wood architectural elements to bring warmth to the mostly white exterior. But unlike many of the party pads found in South Beach, Zota Beach Resort is family-friendly.
There are 30 one- and two-bedroom suites with a spacious living room for families to spread out. In select suites, kitchens and dining areas are available. An outdoor play area with games by the private cabanas and heated pool is ideal for active little ones. But the draw is the beachfront location where sugary sands and beckoning waves provide all the play you need.
