660 North Capitol Street, NW
LEO A DALY designed 660 North Capitol Street, NW, as an eight-story trophy office building, located just a few blocks away from Union Station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in the US. The approximately 325,000-GSF building is the second part of an urban infill master plan that included 25 Massachusetts Ave, NW and a shared courtyard, for which LEO A DALY was also the architect.
The glass facade building has a very simple, clean and well-proportioned design. The articulation of the base and top pay homage to the historic proportions and detail of the Government Publishing Office to the north and other historic buildings in the neighborhood. The modern building is designed to create a foil to the more historic buildings along the street and completes an important block on the North Capitol Street corridor.
The project has achieved LEED Gold certification.
