Lt. Jack Whetsel Jr. Basketball Practice Facility

Waco, Texas

This 40,000-SF basketball practice facility was designed under a fast-track, 21-month schedule and tight budget constraints. To control costs, the design-build team developed a detailed analysis of all building systems. The addition includes practice courts for each program, a 7,000-SF weight training suite, basketball office suites, and VIP booster room accommodating banquets for 250. At the main level, players and recruits walk through an exhibition corridor displaying memorabilia of Baylor Basketball as they enter the complex. At court level, the Hall of Honor provides direct access to the practice courts and weight training suite. The facility was completed on schedule and for 30 percent less costs than comparable facilities.
