First National Tower

Omaha, Nebraska

First National Bank of Omaha set out to consolidate twelve locations into one facility, with the goal of bringing all employees together in a signature structure in the city it has called home for over 150 years. The 633-FT tower establishes a benchmark for design excellence and has served as a catalyst for public/private investment in the Omaha downtown revitalization.

The corporate headquarters structure reflects a solid bearing, avoiding an overabundant use of glass, with the base and piers clad in warm-toned granite, reflecting the patterns and colors of the Missouri River. The column-free interior accommodates modular office design and allows distinctive layouts of varying sizes and configurations for common-use spaces such as conference rooms.

A 60-ft. high glass-enclosed Wintergarden overlooks an exterior plaza and fountain providing a public space and campus centerpiece. A four-story section of terra cotta, limestone and brick upper façade from the 1924 structure that originally occupied the site provides a focal point within the Wintergarden.

With a tight schedule dictated by expiring facility leases, LEO A DALY provided all architectural and engineering services.
