Gabe Nesbitt Community Library
LEO A DALY, in association with Stewart Brown Library Consulting, worked with the City of McKinney to develop a program for a 21,000-SF community library. After a presentation highlighting library "possibilities" for the future library, each library department was interviewed to learn what was working, what they liked and disliked in the existing building, and what features would make their job more efficient. In addition, a Community Open House was held to survey library users regarding user service, program, and amenity requirements. All of this information was used to develop a program that matched the functional requirements of the staff and the expectations of the library patrons. We then reviewed and analyzed three potential sites, with the Gabe Nesbitt Park site was selected.
