Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes
This is not your conventional Ritz-Carlton – not anymore. Our design team transformed the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes from its traditional-style roots into the next era of Ritz-Carlton. Gone are the scalloped archways, classical columns, floor level changes and traditional carpet patterns. Now, guests have a stunning arrival experience inspired by sun-drenched Italian villas and open water views.
The bar and lounge space, now, has a timeless feel in the same vein as a luxurious European home. Structurally, the floor height around the bar and lobby was raised to help with circulation and the bar itself was enlarged and moved to the center of the space, becoming the focal point of the new lobby. The face of the bar is clad with a beautiful large-scale 3-D marble mosaic.
Rather than a traditional cluttered bar back, we wanted the guest to enjoy the view. The liquor storage became a nearly translucent sculpture and made the bar the “jewelry” of the lobby. The columns are encased in gold framework surrounding LED-lit glass shelving with metal details. It remains simple, uncluttered and clean to serve as a backdrop for the guest experience.
Large awning windows were added to open the dark and uninviting lobby and mimic the feel of the grand sun porches of stately southern homes. These impressive windows create blurred lines between indoors and outdoors. They allow natural light and breezes to permeate the space when opened, so guests may enjoy the crisp morning air, cool evening breezes and spectacular sunset views.
Guests are welcomed by the architectural statement of the concierge and front desks. Reminiscent of a luxury yacht, the reception and concierge desks feature folded plate fronts with high-gloss wood finishes and soft intimate lighting. The lights behind the desks twinkle and glow to welcome guests with an inviting ambiance.
