Toledo Express Airport, Air Traffic Control Tower and Base Building

Toledo, Ohio

This project involved site selection, safety risk management, design, and architecture/engineering services for the 133-FT air traffic control tower (ATCT), and a 9,600-SF base building. Due to the close proximity of the airport terminal access road the tower and base building required extensive blast analysis and blast hardening. The standard design was modified to incorporate features desired by local FAA. The small site required close coordination and security integration to allow access to the airport operations area while maintaining routine operations of services for the air traffic control tower, as well as operations of adjacent functions.
