The 83,000-SF Sprague Hall Biomedical Laboratory facility was the second research building constructed in the Irvine Biomedical Research Center. The facility is designed with modular laboratory components to accommodate evolving areas of biomedical research. The biomedical facility includes faculty areas and four research areas: Cancer, Genetics, Immunology and Infectious Disease.  The space type groupings include open research laboratory and fume hood alcove zones with lab spaces assigned to faculty for research; enclosed lab support zones comprised of generic enclosed lab support space for researchers; and special function support spaces that serve the whole building. The facility was designed in collaboration with EHDD Architecture.
