The owner of this historic New Orleans hotel was challenged to create a hip, multifunctional lobby space that would draw on the vivacious and charismatic atmosphere of New Orleans. The space needed to provide guests with a comfortable area to conduct business in during the day and an energetic social gathering place to unwind in at night.
To achieve this goal the design team incorporated flexible furnishings such as stylish lounge chairs, leather ottomans, plush settees, and luxurious banquettes into a variety of seating groups. Alcoves separated by sheer drapery and beaded curtains were created throughout the space to function as impromptu meeting rooms during the day or private party suites at night.
A palette of blues, reds, chocolates, and white were selected and integrated with the architectural finish materials – white marble flooring, rich wenge woods, metal and stainless steel accents, and a spectacular glass bubble ceiling sculpture.
Since this space was designed to appeal to a diverse clientele, special emphasis was placed on creating the proper feel with dramatic lighting. The designers capitalized on the abundant natural light in the space by using translucent window treatments, helping to create a warm and inviting area during the day. At night, sensor driven lighting automatically transforms the lobby into a vibrant and energetic venue.
