The design concept for this wellness center is to create a building that opens itself to the public through the use of massing, transparency, and architectural gestures. Although privately owned, the facility is open to the public.
The majority of the building contains exercise facilities, such as a track, weight room, pool, and rehabilitation spaces. A small portion contains private offices for specialists in imaging, integrative medicine, and physical medicine.
In the two-story lobby, there is a water feature falling from ceiling to floor. A balcony and window create glimpses of a destination. Through the use of these gestures and materials, the space becomes welcoming, open, and recalls features of hospitality.
