The objective of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe for developing a new casino was to reflect its enterprising vision by providing an exceptional guest experience in a strongly themed environment. The innovative tribe selected a Tuscan village theme with a name appropriate to both the regional location and the theme - Casino Del Sol, a deliberate departure from tribal motifs. Experience in working with Native American tribes and an office nearby made Leo A Daly an excellent choice to design and engineer the Tucson project. However, it was the additional benefit of experience and ability to create a Las Vegas-style casino on a conventional budget with a fast-tracked schedule that proved to be the greatest benefit to the tribe.
Casino Del Sol successfully expands the typical design boundaries of Native American casino design using intimate and grand spaces to house a variety of entertainment venues, which exemplify the best in Indian gaming while meeting the tribe's financial and schedule goals.
