In support of the hospital's increasing focus on pediatric services, Leo A Daly created this new 24-bed, all private room, specialized intensive care unit on the seventh floor of the existing patient tower. The unit is designed for high-touch patient care with extensive facilities for the children's families in both the patient room and throughout the unit. Special consideration also was given to spaces for staff respite, control of lighting and acoustics, patient and staff safety, and creating a home-like atmosphere for all in the unit.
